Tazkiyyah (Purifying the Soul) Qiyam

We spent the night at the mosque, and heard wonderful speeches given from Br. Ahmed Abdelgany and Br. Hassan El-Alami. We also had reminders given in between by two brothers and two sisters. This was an event where there was no real sense of who heard about the event and who didn't; as soon as people saw others striving to do good they flocked to join! We had alot of fun with Jeopardy and from the brothers side we had alot of lively discussions in the Cafe after-hours (thank God it was still open because we needed that caffeine fix when the time for prayer came around!)

Summer Retreat '11 with Suhaib Webb

We flew in Suhaib Webb and he addressed many issues that plague the community and how it is that we can fix that. It was a weekend long intensive and though we anticipated more people than the ones who arrived, the retreat turned out to be even more successful! What could be cooler than spending time with Suhaib Webb when there are no more than 50 people in the room? Anyone who attended his lecture on Sunday night knew how hard it was to reach him through the throngs of people who kept asking for his advice. So all thanks are due to Allah who gave us the great opportunity to have one of the 500 most influential Muslims give us a little bit of his personal time.
